THE MUNICIPALITY OF MAHAYAG
The Municipality of Mahayag is located in the north-central region of Zamboanga Peninsula. Mahayag is bounded to the north by the Municipality of Sergio Osmeña; the western border is bounded by the Municipality of Dumingag while the eastern side by the Municipality of Josefina. The Municipalities of Ramon Magsaysay and Aurora bound the south and southeastern sections, respectively.
It consists of 29 barangays as well as three sitios. Only Barangay Poblacion is classified urban in the municipality while the remaining 28 barangays are classified as Rural. There is at least one elementary school in every barangay, and 4 public and 1 private high school. The municipality has one private hospital, one public hospital, 23 barangay health stations and a Rural Health Unit (RHU) fully staffed rendering various health care services.
HEALTH
The Municipal Health Center at Poblacion, Mahayag is manned by 1 Municipal Health Officer, 1 Dentist, 1 Sanitary Inspector and Midwives, Meanwhile, the LGU-owned and operated Municipal Hospital with twenty-two bed capacity is serving the entire municipality and it’s neighboring towns. This is under the management of Medical Doctors in alternated basis, nurses, midwives and medical technologist.
