CIRCLE OF WELLNESS

As medical students that respond to the health and health- related factors faced by different communities, it is important that we deal with the problem at its source and take each single step, tediously, to determine the factors that lead to the existence of the problem/s and resolve the issues from those directly involved and radiating towards the whole community as a whole, a concept adopted from Population Health approach.

It is the main goal of the medical students together with the community people to achieve health for all and bring about wellness – the quality or state of being healthy. Considering the numerous challenges faced by the community, the medical students made a master plan called Circle of Wellness. In this campaign, programs about the 10 problems identified will be advocated. Programs related to maternal care includes utilization of family planning methods and promotion of facility- based deliveries; paternal programs include lifestyle check program - smoking and alcoholic beverage drinking and safe handling of pesticides; whereas infant and child care includes Fully Immunized Child Campaign and Breastfeeding TSEK program. The said programs are confined within the family with focus on the prevention and promotion programs on health. After which, programs relating to the community will be dealt upon such as the water potability campaign, resolving the use of self-medication practices, establish rabies prevention program in the barangay, and campaign on environmental sanitation through proper waste management be done.

Thus, at the end of the community exposure, public health and community wellness will be enveloped within the community which is contained within the paradigm of health for all thus helping the community to move forward –“ UsaD USD!”
